CATCH CHEATING PAINTERS
The difference between painters who know what they are doing and delivering quality paint jobs in distinction to those who just want to cut corners, can be significant, the latter wasting your money on a shoddy job. Some things to look out for can be found in our following list of painters common scams, their short cuts, giving you the runaround, the kickbacks, the bait and switch products to get the sale rather than whats promissed to be delivered, and then the uniformed client price gouging that occurs. Visit our Catch Cheating Painters page for more info.
BUY THE RIGHT AMOUNT
Everyone has leftover paint as it’s not easy to figure out how much paint you should purchase. Most people, who only paint occasionally, need help to guesstimate the amount of paint required for their projects. Most people simply don't have the everyday job experience a professional painter has, who can readily guesstimate the paint needed for the present project. If you're guesstimating the amount of paint you'll need for your job, you should consider these several variables. First, measure your project area/room(s), and take your measurements to the Re-PaintTM store for help. Then ask our Paint Professionals for help or check out our Buy The Right Amount page for more tips.
USE ALL YOUR PAINT
First, you should always purchase as close to the right amount as you can and then use up the paint you've purchased with the goal of using up all leftover paint. If you have leftover paint, you can donate leftovers to family, friends, neighbors, or local groups. Maybe you can trim and accent walls or a wall with lots of windows? Get creative, do you have any scuffed-up furniture that could use a clean finish? A quart of paint is just about perfect for a Re-PaintsTM of a window frame or two. Use it to match picture frames or create a color “pop” by offsetting the color of the inside of a drawer in a piece of furniture. You can find more great ideas at our Use All Your Paint page.
STORE THE PAINT RIGHT
Make sure to store all paint in a cool, dry and dark place and then your paint can last for decades. Common sense tells us not to leave any paint in direct sunlight, and don't leave your paint outdoors, nor in damp locations, like next to a sump pump in a basement. Generally your paint container will have already been opened with some paint leftover. Whether you keep your excess paint for touch ups or recycle, please use the following tips to keep your paint in better condition. Then, you can take it to one of our Re-PaintsTMRecycle Drop Off Centers and/or our H.H.W. Ready Recycling Facilities so someone else can use it. See more at our Store The Paint Right page.
