Wall Of Color Swatches At A Store Location In Tucson

PICKING YOUR COLORS

If you want to assure a great finishing touch on your next painting remodeling project, make sure to spend adequet time to pick the right colors of paint.

Perhaps your thoughts are a medium blue for the walls of your dining room would be a great look. The furniture fabrics you already have appear to coordinate well with your selected paint color, but your just not sure it’s the right shade of blue.

So, what are the things you should do to help make the right decisions to create your well balanced and picture perfect color scheme.

Read below for your steps to Picking Your Colors!
HOW TO PICK INTERIOR PAINT COLORS
Pick Up The Paint Swatches Come on down to Re-PaintsTM or another paint store take a look at the collection of paint colors. Use the loose Fan Decks of paint colors and take notice of the color changes in the blue hues on each of the color Fans. There usually is up to 20 fans of blues and each with different hues. What to do next - see below. Compare The Various Paint Hues Look through the hues through all the shades of blue colors to locate the one you really like. You'll note the Fan has the differing shades represented in the same general color family which will be darker and lighter version of your selected color. Select Only A Few Paint Colors Although it will cost a few dollars, it is a good thing to purchase sample quarts of say three colors. This is a good step to narrowing down your eventual selection including the lighter or darker hues of your color. Beware that nearly all paint stores have fluorescent lighting and you’re selected colors may have a different hue then when at your building. Of course this light isn’t ideal as your building may not have this fluorescent lighting. This is best, that is to say to test and select the colors in the actual location where you’re painting. Choose Your Paint Finish Nest you’ll be deciding on the type of paint finish you'll want to use. Will it be a flat, an eggshell, a stain, a semigloss and / or a no or low-VOC environmentally friendly paint? Below is a guide to help your selection: Put Your Paint Colors Up For Review Now that you have your three samples at your project open each color and paint an area of about 2 square feet on each wall. Test the paint colors near the floor boards and the base trim molding, up into the middle of the wall and also near the ceiling being just under the crown molding, if any. Use each paint on it's respective area to be usesd and allow to dry as paint colors tend to be lighter when wet and darker when they dry. And Finally How Does Your Color Look You should take a look at the paint sample patches in both the day and evening light to see them in the different settings. Also, take few steps back and stand at a distance to take a look. Then, simply decide which color(s) look the best to you for your fabrics and color scheme?

Remember to take a look in both the day and the evening to make sure your color(s) work for both lightings. Obviously, if the colors in both lightings work for you then your ready to start your project, and if not, well then it's back to the color drawing board.

Since you selected only three of the blue color from the Fan Deck, you still should have plenty blue(s) to choose from. So, just purchase another new quart of a new color blue and do the test of the paint just like before. All you need to do is to continue the process until you find just the right shade you're looking for.

And now, you are an educated paint color picker ready to select the right paint color for any project. You can work it like a pro as you know the methodology and all you need do is take your time to make your perfect selection every time.
